If you're just starting out in the world of tea, these are the basic accessories you need:

1. Kettle: A kettle with temperature control is ideal, as it allows you to adjust the exact water temperature according to the type of tea you are preparing.
2. Teapot: A glass or ceramic teapot is excellent for preserving flavor. If it has a built-in filter, even better.
3. Filter: If your kettle doesn't have a filter, you can use a stainless steel filter or a reusable cloth filter.
4. Cup: If you practice the Gongfu Cha style, you will need small cups. In the Western style, the cups are larger, as more water is added to prepare larger infusions.
5. Scale: To accurately measure the amount of tea.

The best teapot for brewing tea depends on the type of tea you're going to drink. For green teas, a Kyusu clay or glass teapot is ideal, as it doesn't diminish the flavors and allows the tea to retain its fresh and delicate characteristics. For oolong tea, glass teapots or ceramic gaiwans may be the best option. For black and pu-erh teas, iron and ceramic teapots are the most recommended, as they retain heat evenly and bring out the more complex flavors of these teas.

Cleaning tea accessories is simple and easy: follow these steps depending on the material:

• Glass : Wash it with warm water and a mild detergent. Use a soft sponge to avoid scratches. Rinse well to remove all soap residue and dry it with a clean cloth or let it air dry.
• Ceramic : If it is fully glazed, wash it with warm water and a mild detergent, using a soft sponge. If it is porous or unglazed ceramic, rinse it with water only to prevent it from absorbing odors or soap residue.
• Stainless steel : Clean with warm water, mild detergent, and a sponge. For tough stains, apply a mixture of baking soda and water, rub gently, and rinse well. Dry completely to avoid watermarks.
• Bamboo : Rinse it only with warm water. Do not use soap and do not soak it in water for long periods. Dry it completely after each use to prevent mold.
• Porcelain : Being non-porous and resistant, you can wash it with water and a mild detergent.

To prepare tea in the Gongfu style, you will need the following accessories:

• Gaiwan or small teapot
• Small cups
• Serving pitcher
• Scales
• Electric kettle (optional with temperature setting)
• Tea tray or container for discarding water
• Teastick (optional)
• Tea strainer (optional)
• Tea knife (tool for separating pressed tea)

With these items, you can properly prepare tea in the Gongfu style and enjoy a complete experience. Other accessories are available, but they are not strictly necessary for basic practice.

In general, it's not recommended to wash tea accessories in the dishwasher, especially if they're made of delicate materials like ceramic, porcelain, or bamboo. The heat and detergents can affect their quality and durability. However, glass teapots and cups are dishwasher safe. Even so, we recommend handwashing them to ensure they stay in good condition.

If your electric kettle has a layer of limescale at the bottom, add a splash of vinegar, fill the kettle with water, and boil it. This will help dissolve the limescale. Then, empty it and rinse it thoroughly before using it again.
