What's so special about this tea?

This tea comes from Wawee Mountain in Chiang Rai, northern Thailand, at over 1,000 meters above sea level. Its village, known as the tea village, is home to extensive plantations of ancient wild tea trees, some of which have stood for over 900 years, long before people settled in the area. It is here that our Pu-erh Shu 2013 is sourced.

For decades, this family-run plantation has produced high-quality teas from these historic trees. This batch is made using leaves from ancient wild trees, known as “Gushu,” blended with leaves from younger trees to balance and enrich the flavor profile. The harvest is in spring, and each leaf is carefully selected: one bud and two leaves, ensuring the highest quality.

It offers a deep and lingering sweetness, with aromas reminiscent of aged wood, beetroot, pomegranate, Chinese medicinal herbs, leather, and cranberry jam. On the palate, it is dense and rich, with warm notes of dark chocolate, sweet spices, ripe cherry, herbal liqueur, and dried fruit. Each infusion reveals new layers of flavor, showcasing a complex, balanced, and harmonious profile that invites repeated brewing.
