What's so special about this tea?

This Bai Mu Dan white tea comes from the early 2023 harvest. The leaves are carefully picked, selecting a bud with one or two young leaves, from the wild Assamica variety on ancient trees between 400 and 500 years old in Chiang Rai, northern Thailand. It was stored under temperature and humidity control in the producer's warehouse, located near where these old wild trees grow, at over 1,000 meters above sea level.

With decades of experience, the producers pay meticulous attention not only to harvesting but also to the delicate withering and drying process, following a traditional method. The quality of their work is evident in the leaves, which display silvery buds covered in down, interspersed with olive green and brown tones, ranging from light to dark. This indicates excellent aging potential.

In its second year, the tea maintains its fresh, floral character while evolving into a sweeter, more rounded profile. The aroma of the infused leaves is distinctly floral in the first infusions, gradually revealing warmer notes of rye bread, honey, vanilla, and wood. On the palate, a green, herbaceous note appears in the first infusion, which then fades, giving way to nuances of ripe fruit, white chocolate, carquiñolis (a type of almond biscuit), and orange sorbet. The sweetness lingers gently on the tongue and extends to the cheeks. The finish is clean, leaving a refreshing sensation. The liqueur is a golden yellow that deepens with longer infusions.
